On one creepy day in 1943, four boys found the skeletonized remains of a woman, stuffed into the hollow of a wych elm tree with taffeta stuffed into her mouth in Hagley Wood, Hagley in Worcestershire, England. The victim’s identity remained a mystery for years before unusual graffiti began to show up around the areas she was discovered. The graffiti asked “Who put Bella in the witch elm?” but unfortunately, the answer has yet to be found.
The Black Dahlia murder is probably one of the most infamous cases in American history. Hollywood has a way of churning out the darkest stories when no cameras are running. Elizabeth Short moved from Massachusetts to Los Angeles to pursue the coveted position of movie starlet and instead, found herself the star of one of the most brutal murders on the books. This case has twists and turns that seem like they are stolen from a greenlit screenplay, but unfortunately, the drama is all real. In Part 1, we discuss Elizabeth’s life, her murder and the frustrating investigation that followed.
On this not really mini Morbid minisode, we explore Westfield, New Jersey’s infamous Watcher House. Would you still move into your dream home if your life there began with a series of spooky, threatening letters that claimed the author’s duty was to watch over your home and family? In the Summer of 2014, Derek and Maria Broaddus found themselves faced with this very dilemma and the details were a real, living nightmare.
